Part 1 Decide What Type of Project You Have
Before moving any files, you must identify the structural type of your application. This tells you exactly how to move it safely without breaking anything. Do not worry about code or databases just look at the simple descriptions below to see where your project fits:

ββββββββββββββββββββ ββββββββββββββββββββ Option A: Simple Website (Static Site)
What it is: Think of this as an interactive digital billboard or informational brochure. It includes landing pages, portfolio sites, waitlist pages, or simple marketing layouts.
How to identify it: It has no user login buttons, no signup forms, and no memory. If a visitor leaves the page, nothing is saved. It does not write to a database or require any user accounts.
The outcome: This type of project is incredibly cheap and easy to host. You can run it 100% free forever on platforms like Vercel or Netlify.
Option B: Full SaaS or Web Application (Dynamic App)
What it is: This is a fully functional software-as-a-service (SaaS) product.
How to identify it: It includes user registration forms, login screens, personal dashboards, user profiles, interactive search tools, or payment screens like Stripe.
The outcome: It requires a digital filing cabinet (a database) to remember user passwords, accounts, and saved items. Moving this requires keeping your visual storefront (the website) connected to your secure backroom filing cabinet (the database).
Part 2 Simple Website (The Easy Path)
If your project is a simple website (Option A), you can export it and deploy it on a free independent host in less than five minutes.
Step-by-Step GitHub Export Walkthrough
GitHub acts as a secure online folder that holds the master blueprint of your website. You do not need to understand how it works; it simply serves as a transfer folder between Lovable and your new hosting provider.
- 1. Open Your Project: Log into Lovable and open the project you want to export.
- 2. Find the GitHub Button: Look at the top-right navigation bar of the editor. Locate the button with the cat-like GitHub icon (or click Settings and choose Integrations).
- 3. Connect Your Account: Click the blue button that says Connect GitHub or Install. A popup window will appear asking you to log into GitHub. If you do not have an account, click the link to create one for free at github.com.
- 4. Authorize the Connection: Click the green button that says Install & Authorize. This gives Lovable permission to safely create a private folder in your GitHub account.
- 5. Create the Transfer Folder: Under the GitHub settings in Lovable, click Connect Project or Create Repository. Lovable will instantly build a new private folder in your GitHub account containing every design element, image, and text block from your site.
- 6. Confirm Successful Export: Open a new browser tab, go to your GitHub dashboard, and verify that a new folder has been created with your project name. You will see files inside like
index.htmland a folder namedsrc. Your website files are now safely in your possession.
Step-by-Step Vercel Setup & Live Launch Guide
Vercel is a free hosting provider that takes your GitHub folder and publishes it live on the web.

- 2. Start a New Project: On your Vercel dashboard, click the blue button that says Add New and select Project.
- 3. Select Your Site Folder: You will see a list of your GitHub folders. Find the folder that matches your Lovable project and click the Import button next to it.
- 4. Skip Configuration Settings: Vercel is smart. It will automatically recognize that your site is a standard web application. Leave all the settings at their default values you do not need to change any build commands.
- 5. Click Deploy: Click the blue Deploy button at the bottom. A screen will appear with an animation of files uploading.
- 6. Claim Your Live Link: In less than 60 seconds, confetti will rain down on your screen. Vercel will provide a safe, free public link (ending in
.vercel.app) where your website is now live. Every time you change anything in your GitHub folder, Vercel will update your live site automatically.
Part 3 Full SaaS App (How to Move Safely)
Moving an active SaaS app (Option B) requires handling both your visual pages and your database (where accounts, passwords, and billing records are stored).
What is GitHub and Why Do You Own It?
Think of GitHub as your master digital storage drawer. When you connect Lovable to GitHub, every button, screen, and design layout you create is securely saved into this folder.
Having your project connected to GitHub means you have total ownership of your software. Lovable cannot lock you in or restrict your files. Even if your Lovable subscription lapses, your application files remain safe and accessible inside your personal GitHub account.
To move your database safely, you must first identify where your database is currently hosted:
Case 1: Your App Connects to an Independent Supabase Account
If your app was built by linking your own standalone Supabase account, your migration is incredibly straightforward.
What is Supabase?
Supabase is your application's memory bank and back-end engine. It is a highly secure, independent platform that safely stores user passwords, runs login portals, handles files, and keeps track of account details.
Finding Your Connection Keys
To tell your new host (Vercel or Netlify) how to speak to your database memory bank, you must copy two secret connection codes from your Supabase dashboard:
- Log into your Supabase account and open your active application project.
- Locate the gear icon (Settings) at the bottom of the left-hand sidebar and click it.
- In the settings menu, click on the API tab.
- Look under the Project API keys section:
- Copy the Project URL (a link ending in
.supabase.co). - Copy the anon public key (a very long string of letters and numbers).
- Copy the Project URL (a link ending in
VITE_ prefix. The VITE_ prefix acts as a safety signal to prevent your master administrative keys (like the service_role key) from being exposed. Never copy or share any key that does not start with VITE_.
Case 2: Your App Uses Lovable Cloud
If your app uses Lovable Cloud, it means your database is hosted on Lovable's shared internal servers, and you do not have direct administrative access.
The Danger of Lock-In
If your database is hosted on Lovable Cloud and you cancel your subscription or delete your project, your database will instantly shut down. Your live app will freeze, login screens will crash, and all your saved user data will be permanently lost.
How to Migrate Your Database Safely
To make a clean break from Lovable Cloud, you must move your database schema, user accounts, and files over to a free, standalone Supabase project.

βββββββββββββββββββββ The Problem with Manual CSV Exports: If you follow Lovable's official manual database transfer guides, you have to export tables one by one as CSV files. This process wipes out user password security hashes. This means every single user will be locked out and forced to reset their password.
The AI-Powered Solution: To bypass password resets, use a free migration helper like the Dreamlit Exporter or LoveMigrate. These helper tools temporarily create a secure database bridge that safely copies your database schema, active user accounts (keeping original password hashes intact), and storage folders to a new, free Supabase project in about 10 minutes. Your users can continue logging in with their existing passwords as if nothing happened.
Part 4 Deploying a SaaS App to Vercel
Once your database is secure, follow this step-by-step checklist to launch your complete SaaS application on Vercel:
- Key:
VITE_SUPABASE_URL| Value:[Paste your Supabase Project URL here] - Key:
VITE_SUPABASE_ANON_KEY| Value:[Paste your Supabase Anon Key here]
VITE_SUPABASE_PROJECT_ID | Value: [Paste your Supabase Project ID here] Part 5 Deploying a SaaS App to Netlify
Netlify is another excellent, free platform designed to host web applications. If you prefer Netlify over Vercel, use this checklist:
- Key:
VITE_SUPABASE_URL| Value:[Your Supabase URL] - Key:
VITE_SUPABASE_ANON_KEY| Value:[Your Supabase Anon Key] - Key:
VITE_SUPABASE_PROJECT_ID| Value:[Your Supabase Project ID]
Part 6 Continuing Development WITHOUT Coding
Moving off Lovable hosting does not mean you have to learn to code or hire a developer. Instead, you can use Autonomous AI Agents to build, maintain, and expand your app directly.
What are AI Agents?
Unlike simple chat assistants that output snippets of code for you to manually copy and paste, AI Agents can access and edit your codebase directly. They can open your GitHub folders, diagnose errors, add new features, adjust visual designs, and push updates directly to your live app. You act as the product manager, directing them using plain English instructions.
- Claude Code: A blazing-fast AI coding agent that runs directly in your computer's terminal window. Created by Anthropic, it behaves like a highly experienced software engineer, analyzing your entire project and resolving complex issues in seconds.
- Google Antigravity: A visual-first desktop application designed specifically for absolute beginners and non-technical founders. It hides complex code structures and terminal interfaces entirely, displaying visual checklists and step-by-step progress reports as it updates your app.

These prompts are optimized to help you maintain and improve your app using Claude Code or Google Antigravity:
Analyze my app's files for any setup errors, broken page paths, or mismatched files. Correct any issues automatically to ensure that my application builds cleanly and runs on external hosting without crashing.
Configure my application's build settings for Vercel deployment. Make sure that if a user navigates to a dashboard page and hits "refresh" in their browser, they are not met with a "404 - Page Not Found" error. Configure the fallback routing correctly.
Find the files in my project that handle database connections. Update them to read my standalone Supabase database connection details using the environment variables VITE_SUPABASE_URL and VITE_SUPABASE_ANON_KEY securely.
Audit my application to ensure it is completely safe and secure for the public. Clean up any leftover test data or debugging tools, optimize page loading speeds, and verify that no administrative master keys are exposed in public client files.
Analyze the styling of my user interface. Adjust the main screens so that everything looks beautiful, clear, and perfectly proportioned on mobile screens. Fix any broken buttons, visual misalignments, or overlapping text.
